Who We Are

Our Name

Following a massive flood, there are marks on everything in sight; enduring reminders indicating how high the water had risen. Such a picture could be true of the local church as well, as we experience a powerful movement of God that marks our lives and the lives of others for eternity.

What we are doing

Reaching Seekers. Growing Believers. Serving Others.

What we are becoming

Our vision is to be an Acts Chapter 2 biblically functioning community of believers, who will labor together to increase the kingdom of God, and accurately reflect Him to the world.

What We Believe

We are an independent church, in that we are not governed by an outside denominational structure. We elect our own leaders, and they direct the affairs of the church, under the leadership of the Holy Spirit in accordance with His Word. We seek to be nondenominational, encouraging all believers to put aside man-made creeds and titles. We call ourselves "Christians" (Acts 11:26), and use the Bible as our only rule of faith and practice (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

What does WCC believe about the Scripture?

We believe that the Bible, composed of the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testament, is the inspired Word of God and is without error in the original writing. The Bible was given by God through chosen people, and thus reflects the backgrounds, styles, and vocabulary of human writers. The Bible is the full and final authority on all matters of faith and practice; there are no other writings similarly inspired by God. The Bible's truth is timeless and speaks to our everyday lives.

Luke 21:33, 24:44, Romans 15:4, Hebrews 4:12, II Timothy 3:15-17, I Peter 1:25, II Peter 1:19-21

What does WCC believe about God?

We believe there is only one God, Creator and Lord of everything, infinitely perfect, all-powerful, all-knowing, and eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (The Trinity).

Isaiah 43:10-11, Matthew 3:16-17, 28:19, John 14:16-17, 16:23-27, II Corinthians 13:14, Galatians 4:4-6

What does WCC believe about God the Father?

We believe that the Father is Creator and Ruler of all. He is compassionate, loving, and just toward all people and is faithful to keep His promises. He hears and answers prayer. He calls people to believe in Him, and saves from sin and eternal death each person who comes to Him through His Son, Jesus Christ.

Genesis 1, Matthew 7:7, 12:50, Ephesians 4:6, 2 Corinthians 6:18, I Timothy 2:4-5, Exodus 34:5-7

What does WCC believe about God the Son?

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He came to earth fully God and fully man through a miraculous conception and virgin birth. He lived a sinless life and voluntarily died on the cross in our place as full payment for the sins of all people. He arose bodily from the dead on the third day to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended into heaven to the right hand of the Father where He is the only One who is able to provide access and reconciliation between God and people. He will return personally and visibly to earth and those who have believed in Him will be united with God eternally in Heaven. Those who have not believed in Him will be separated from God, and spend eternity in Hell because of their sin.

Matthew 1:18-23, Luke 24:1-8, John 14:16, Romans 5:8-11, I Corinthians 15:3-6, II Corinthians 5:17-21, Hebrews 4:14-16, 7:24-25, Revelation 19:20, Romans 1:3-4, John 14:9-11, Titus 2:13-14, John 14:6-7, Acts 1:9-11, John 3:16, Romans 6:23, Revelation 20:15, John 11:25, John 3:18, John 1:14

What does WCC believe about God the Holy Spirit?

We believe that the Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son as God. He is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the spiritual gifts by which believers serve God through His church. He also provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. The Christian seeks to live under His control daily.

II Corinthians 3:17, John 16:7-13, 14:16-17, Acts 1:8, I Corinthians 2:12, 3:16, Ephesians 1:13, Galatians 5:25, Ephesians 5:18, 1 Corinthians 12

What does WCC believe about mankind?

We believe that man was created in the image of God to have fellowship with Him, but became alienated from that relationship through sinful disobedience. As a result, man is totally incapable of coming back into a right relationship with God by his own effort.

Genesis 1:27, Psalm 8:3-6, Isaiah 53:6a, Romans 3:23, Isaiah 59:1-2

What does WCC believe about salvation?

Salvation is a gift from God to man. Man can never make up for his sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God's offer of forgiveness can man be saved from sin's penalty. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his life by faith.

Romans 6:23, Ephesians 2:8-9, John 14:6, 1:12, Titus 3:5, Galatians 3:26, Romans 5:1

What does WCC believe about the church?

We believe that all those, anywhere, who acknowledge Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, make up the one true church as the body of Christ of which Jesus Christ is the Head. The members are those who have trusted by faith the finished work of Christ. The purpose of the church is to glorify God by loving Him and by making Him known to a lost world. The purpose of a local church is to organize Christians to reach unbelievers with the message of salvation, serve as a corporate body for worship of God, provide fellowship for Christians with each other, develop the gifts and talents of Christians for godly service, and practice baptism and communion.

Matthew 28:18-20, Mark 16:15-16, Acts 2:38-41, 42-47, 38-41, Colossians 1:18, Hebrews 10:24-25, 13:17, I Corinthians 11:23-26, 12:12-13

What We Value

Beliefs must always come before policies, practices, and goals. In order to maintain our vision, we have embraced the following core values with an uncompromising commitment:

          1.  Lost people matter to God, therefore they should matter to the church.

          2.  The church should be a real place for real people, allowing people to be transparent and authentic.

          3.  The church should be culturally relevant while remaining doctrinally pure.

          4.  The church is a place of grace, serving as a trauma center for wounded people and a safe place for questions and searching,
regardless of where one might be on his or her spiritual journey.

          5.  Life change happens best in community.

          6.  Ministry happens best in teams.

          7.  Worship is a lifestyle, not an event or a program.

          8.  The church should be a place of missionaries, not consumers.

          9.  Excellence honors God and inspires people.

        10.  The pursuit of full devotion to Christ and His cause is normal for every believer.
